“You really cannot go back and get information on cricket in Guyana as who did what and when, so we looked at several ways we can collaborate,” Barry Snr. stated in a recent interview.
Leading the effort in launching the App last year were former players Donavon Matthews and Keith Semple. The App became fully operational this year.
For a fee, the GCA is allowed a platform on the App, where they can solicit ads, along with conduct live scoring, which can be viewed globally in real time.
The GCA President said the Association is keen on giving its sponsors further publicity through this new platform. Additionally, the GCA is looking expand its pool of scorers.
Recently, Jacobs Jewellery and Pawn Shop signed a one-year advertising agreement with the GCA.
Currently, the GCA has eight trained scorers, led by female national player, Akaze Thompson, and the Association is looking to increase that number.
Barry’s ideal wish is for the clubs to have capable persons who can score via the App to increase the output of accurate data from GCA matches.
The App also allows for live streaming and that is one aspect the GCA is looking to tap into in the near future.
This new data collection method, the GCA President highlighted, will also serve to better inform selection decisions within the Association.
