Police are investigating the alleged electrocution of Mark Wells, a 32-year-old man of Lot 44 Coldingen, East Coast Demerara.
The Guyana Police Force reported that on September 7, the man who resided with his 46-year-old girlfriend, were at home.
At about 20:40hrs, the girlfriend said the man was in the yard running a wire to a nearby house to receive electricity. Shortly after she heard him screaming and rushed to his assistance.
Upon arrival she observed that he was holding a white electric drop cord in his left hand and lying motionless on the ground. The woman managed to remove the wire from his hand and observed he was unresponsive. She then raised an alarm.
Emergency Medical Technicians from the Melanie Fire Station responded at about 20:50hrs. Wells was later pronounced dead.
The man’s body was examined by ranks and wounds were seen to his left-hand palm and right leg. The police said no foul play suspected.
