A row between two taxi drivers early this morning at the Mocha road entrance on the East Bank of Demerara, left one driver dead and the other one in Police custody.
The dead driver has been identified as 42-year-old Quincy Weekes.
According to reports, the two men who were friends got into an early morning argument over $500.
The row turned into a confrontation and Weekes allegedly attacked the other driver by throwing a liquid on him suspected to be acid. The other man retaliated by grabbing a knife and stabbing Weekes multiple times to his body.
The 42-year-old driver collapsed and died on the scene.
Police investigators from the nearby Providence Police Station were quick on the scene and were seen closing off the area to traffic as they launched their probe.
The suspect has since been taken into custody.
