Murder in La Penitence: $7M in cash found at suspect’s house

As the probe continues into the brutal murder of Amit Singh, the Police have found $7 million in cash at the house of the suspect.

The News Room understands that the suspect,  Yogeendra Sukhdeo, took the Police to his home at 20th Avenue Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara on Tuesday night where a search was carried out in his room and the sum of $7,790,000 – all consisting of 5000 bills – were found.

Sukhdeo was arrested on Tuesday after the battered body of Singh was found in a house at Middle Road, Le Penitence.

Police said that Singh, of Campbellville, was lured to the house by four persons who claimed they were in possession of gold for sale.

While at the house, the four suspects brutally murdered the victim and wrapped his body in a sheet.

The suspects then fled the scene along with the cash that the victim had taken to purchase the gold. The perpetrators then locked the building with the victim’s body inside.

Police suspect that Singh was clubbed over the head.
