Guyanese athlete Gabriel Lim showcased his men’s javelin throw talent on Saturday while representing Southeastern Louisiana University at the National Collegiate Athletic Association(NCAA) Division 1 Indoor Track and Field meet in a remarkable collegiate debut.
Lim’s journey from high school to collegiate athletics has been marked by determination and dedication, culminating in a memorable first appearance on the collegiate stage. He unleashed a remarkable throw, recording a distance of 62.95 meters.
The 20-year-old’s exceptional debut performance has not gone unnoticed on the national stage. He currently stands 39th in the NCAA Division 1 javelin rankings across the United States.
Furthermore, his impressive standing as the 8th-ranked freshman in the country underscores his potential as a rising star in collegiate athletics.
Lim holds the prestigious position of second in the Southland conference while being ranked number one among freshmen, further solidifying his status as a standout performer in his inaugural collegiate season.
“First of all, I want to thank God for allowing me to stay healthy that I could’ve competed. I had a great debut, but it wasn’t my best. I’m excited to compete in the internal meet this Saturday at LSU.
It’s another chance to test myself and see how far I’ve come since my collegiate debut. I’ve been putting in the work and ready to give it my all on the field.” Lim remarked in an interview with News Room Sport.
His impressive start signals a promising journey ahead in collegiate athletics.
