Ministry of Human Services, Police Force collaborate to raise awareness about gender-based violence

The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security, in collaboration with the Guyana Police Force, conducted a sensitisation exercise on Friday at the Lusignan Market to raise awareness about Gender-Based Violence.

The sensitisation exercise was aimed at educating community members and business owners about the pressing issue and the resources available to support victims at the Hope and Justice Center, located at School Road, Lusignan, East Coast Demerara.

The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security, in collaboration with the Guyana Police Force, conducted a sensitisation exercise on Friday at the Lusignan Market to raise awareness about Gender-Based Violence.

The exercise, which took place between 09:00 hrs and 12:00 hrs, saw participation from Minister of Human Services and Social Security, Dr Vindhya Persaud and ranks of Regional Police Division 4’C’ also participated in the exercise.

The ranks actively engaged with vendors and residents, providing crucial information about the newly established Hope and Justice Center. This facility serves as a ‘one-stop’ facility catering to individuals who have experienced abuse, offering them comprehensive support and assistance.

Adding to the impactful initiative, the event featured a performance by the Guyana Police Force Band, led by Superintendent Joseph.
